Sentiment is key – Jellypark blog challenge

Because I just discovered Jellypark digi images and I love them I decided to join in with their challenge this month, which is all about the sentiment. Their challenge blog is here.

And here is my effort…

DSCF0865It’s a different colourway than usual because I chose the backing papers first. I wasn’t sure about the beigey-pink sort of colours but I think it works quite well. Because this challenge was about making the sentiment centre stage I decided just to layer it up with some scalloped circles cut on the bigshot. I like the finished effect and will probably make some more! (Will add it to the to do list…)

Upcycled cassette gift card

DSCF0847I love to upcycle – it gives me an excuse to hoard that clutter…! I found a carrier bag full of cassette tapes (remember those?) in the attic and just knew there would be something I could make with them. I chopped the cassette in half and pulled out the insides to make this.

30 days of creativity – day 5 – festive wedding couple

I love to get card commissions which are a little bit tricky!

The request was for an acceptance card for a Christmas wedding. I did not have a suitable rubber or digi stamp, so i decided to draw my own! The customer described them as a broad and bearded man, and a slim lady with ginger hair.

So I started to draw. These are my first two rejected attempts.

And this is what I finished with…

Then all there was left to do was to colour it in with the promarkers, add a bit of glitter and make it into a card.

Christmas wedding coupleI was rather pleased with it, and my drawing confidence is now on the up!

30 days of creativity – day 4 – Christmas cards

Today I took some time to colour up a new image which I want to use for some Christmas card designs. It’s a very cute digi which I bought from http://www.jellypark.co.uk . I only just found this site and I love it already!

I decided this image would be great for grandparents. I made three cards altogether, one coloured as two girls, one with two boys and finally a card with a boy and a girl making the snowman.

I embellished it with a circular sentiment (also from jellypark), some ribbon and some little snowflakes. It also got a sprinkle of glitter because a Christmas card needs glitter!

Minecraft mad

My sons are obsessed. They think of nothing else except Minecraft.

I’d tell you what was so great about it, but I am 39 years old. I don’t really understand. It’s not really anything like the Manic Miner of my youth.

But I like the creeper image – it’s very simple to reproduce!

I have painted this for their Christmas present.

A large canvas, divided into squares; I painted the green ones first using 2 shades of green acrylic, gradually adding white to get lighter shades. I painted them randomly rather than to a plan, then painted the face in black acrylic last.

It’s not fine art, but it was fun, and my boys are going to love it!

For a Grandad

I’ve made this card with a lovely freebie digi stamp from Birdie Brown – and I’d like to enter it into her November challenge.

I coloured the image with promarkers, and the background paper is from Dovecraft. The words are hand written.

I think it makes a really sweet Grandfather card – if your grandfather is a sweet, little, old man!
